Special Education Use of Recovery and Reinvestment Funds


Saint Paul Public Schools’ Special Education Department is expecting a large one-time increase in federal special education funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  We will receive approximately $11 million to be used prior to Sept. 30, 2011. 

For details, please see the guidance from the US Department of Education, provided in the link below.  President Obama’s administration has shared clear principles about how the funds should be used, and work is already underway to determine the ways these funds can help to address District needs.  There will be opportunities later this spring for stakeholders to provide input on specifics.  Watch for more details on the SPPS Special Education website.
