| Paraprofessional
- In order to bill for Paraprofessional Services, paraprofessional services must be documented in the IEP in Campus. The campus web site is http://health.spps.org:8080/campus3.0/campus.jsp . Examples of how to document paraprofessional services on the IEP are described in the following Action Alert.
- Medical Assistance covered paraprofessional services include the following services when these services are documented in the IEP.
- Activities of daily living (ADL;s) ie. eating, toileting, grooming, dressing, bathing, transferring, mobility, and positioning.
- Instrumental activities of daily living (IADL's) - ie. meal planning and preparation, managing finances, shopping for food, communication by telephone and other media, getting around and participating in the community.
- Health related function through hands on assistance, supervision, and cuing. Health related functions are services that can be delegated or assigned by a licensed health care professional under state law to be performed by a personal care assistant.
- Redirection and intervention for behavior including observation and monitoring
- Documentation of Paraprofessional services are documented by the paraprofessionals into EASYIEP. Please call the billing office at 767-8189 to schedule training for paraprofessionals who need training.
- Documentation of Paraprofessional Supervision
- Documentation of Paraprofessional Supervision is done by the professional in EASYIEP on the Professional Log.
- In order to bill for paraprofessional services, there must be documentation of paraprofessional supervision in EASYIEP.
Qualified individuals to provide paraprofessional supervision include: Licensed School Nurse, mental health professional (LICSW), physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, audiologist. One or more qualified professional may provide supervision of paraprofessional services as appropriate in consultation with the child/student's teacher.
Supervision means the qualified professional provides: Ensures through direct observation or in consultationwith the teacher that the person providing the service: is:
- Capable of providing the service
- Knowledgeable about the plan of services to be provided
- Knowledgeable about the essential needs of the child/student's and observed conditions that should be brought to the supervisor's attention
- Knowledgeable about changes in the plan, and keeps records of services provided and time spent providing the services.
